HYPE Productions delivers positive messages to the community through song and dance, in hopes of helping other youth make positive choices and live healthier lifestyles.
HYPE Productions is a high energy form of prevention that Encourages, Excites, and Empowers it's audiences with original hip-hop dance moves, positive vocals, and realistic enactments of life situations. The group showcases talented and artistic youth from our own community. HYPE members are trained in various courses of study concerning drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. In addition to the monthly performances at local area schools, HYPE members serve as Youth Ambassadors speaking at local community events and school assemblies on current issues youth face in our community.
These are the goals of the HYPE Productions program:
- To create active youth leaders in area schools who mentor to other students about resiliency to drug use and other harmful behaviors.
- To develop a dynamic prevention presentation that will be utilized when speaking to audiences and schools.
- To help spread awareness of drug and alcohol use in our community.
- To allow youth the opportunity to use and better their talents in a positive way.
- HYPE is used as an alternative activity, and a youth advisory group.
HYPE made its 1st debut in the summer of 1999, and the group has performed during the halftime show at several Spurs games, and traveled to the State Capitol to help kick off Red Ribbon Week in 1999 and 2000. Other performances and appearances include the opening and closing ceremonies for the Inner City Games, a nationally recognized program endorsed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, the United Way Kick-Off Campaign, numerous performances for major corporations and schools in the Bexar County community and halftime shows at local college athletic events. They were the opening act of the state-sponsored Texas Teen Tobacco Summit held in Houston's Woodland Resort.
